Your notebook can have a dark or dimmed screen under the following circumstances:
The brightness level may have been changed.
The power saving function in Samsung Battery Manager darkened / dimmed the screen after a period of inactivity.
The notebook is experiencing a driver, software or hardware failure.
To remedy the issue, follow these steps:
1. Press and hold the Fn key, and then press the Up arrow. This increases the
brightness if it has been turned down.
Note: Please make sure that Easy Display Manager is running. If it is not running,
then the above keystroke may not function. Click here to view the Software

Management Functions.
2. Press and hold the Fn key, and then press the F5 key. This turns on the backlight if
you have accidentally turned it off.
3. Check the settings for Samsung Battery Manager. When in use Samsung Battery
Manager will darken / dim the screen on the notebook to conserve battery life. Click
