As tempting as it might be to drink coffee, soda, water or any other liquid near your laptop, accidents can happen all too easily. Alternatively, use a cup with a cover on it, so even if it does spill, the liquid doesn’t go anywhere. Spilled liquids may damage the internal micro electronic components or cause electrical injury to the laptop. Short circuits can corrupt data or even permanently destroy some parts. The solution is very simple: Keep your drinks away from your computer. Even if you’re careful, someone else might bump into your desk or you.

Having an available antivirus software would help. toshiba satellite c855 keyboard Even if you know what you download, it may contain a virus that can lead to a circuit error or software problem in your system hardware or software. It may also slow down the system operations and performance.

Keep food away from your laptop. Don’t eat over your laptop, the crumbs can go down between the keys in the keyboard and provide an invitation to small bugs. The crumbs can also damage the circuitry. toshiba satellite c870 keyboard Worse, it makes the laptop look dirty if there are crumbs and food stains on it.

Always have clean hands when using your laptop. Clean hands make it easier to use your laptop touchpad and there will be less risk of leaving dirt and other stains on the computer. In addition, if you clean your hands before use, you will help reduce wear and tear on the coating of the laptop caused by contact with sweat and small particles that can act upon the laptop’s exterior underneath your wrists and fingers.

Protect the LCD display monitor. When you shut your laptop, make sure there are no small items, such as a pencil or small ear-phones, on the keyboard. toshiba satellite c875 keyboard These can damage the display screen when shut; the screen will scratch if the item is rough. Close the lid gently and holding from the middle. Closing the lid using only one side causes pressure on that hinge, and over time can cause it to bend and snap.

Hold and lift the computer by its base, not by its LCD asus ul30 keyboard display (the screen). If you lift it by the screen part alone, you could damage the display or the hinges attaching it to the base. The display is also easily scratched or damaged by direct pressure – avoid placing pressure on it.

Don’t pull on the power cord. Tugging your power cord out from the power socket rather than putting your hand directly on the plug in the socket and pulling can break off the plug or damage the power socket. toshiba satellite l850 keyboard Also, if you have the power point near your feet, avoid constantly bumping into the plug or you could loosen it and eventually break it.

Don’t roll your chair over the computer cord. Stick the cord onto your desk with tape or a special computer cord tie which can be easily undone when you’ve finished using the laptop. Always try to keep most of the cord asus x43 keyboard away from the floor or your legs; sometimes you can be so engrossed in what you’re doing that you move your legs and forget the cord is there.

Plug in accessory devices into their proper slots. Always look at the symbols on the laptop carefully before inserting devices. Jamming a phone line into an Ethernet port or vice versa could damage the sockets, making it impossible to use them again. It is very important to observe this step.

Handle any removable drives with care. toshiba satellite l855 keyboard Floppy drives or CD drives that have been removed from your laptop can easily get crushed, dropped or pressed if you are careless. Put them straight into a bag or a storage box/case for safe keeping if you are not putting them back into the laptop.

Insert drives into their slots carefully asus k43 keyboard and at the correct angle. Pushing the wrong drive into a socket, or at an angle, or even upside down can jam it.

Check to see if labels are affixed securely before inserting media into your laptop computer. Media such as CDs, DVDs or floppy disks should not have any loose label parts that might jam inside the laptop drive. Never insert undersized CDs, as these can damage the disk player permanently.

Don’t expose your laptop to rapid temperature changes. When bringing your laptop indoors during winter, don’t turn it on immediately. Instead, toshiba satellite l875 keyboard let it warm to room temperature first. This will avoid any potential for damage to the disk drive from condensation forming inside the machine. Avoid heat from sunlight as well.

Don’t leave your laptop in a car. Not only do the insides of cars experience large temperature swings that could damage a laptop, but a laptop (or laptop bag) is an inviting target for a smash and grab thief.

Have the unit cleaned annually to remove internal dust. asus a42 keyboard Get this done by a computer professional, or do it yourself if you can. If dust accumulates, the system cannot cool itself correctly. Heat can destroy the motherboard.

Avoid placing heavy materials, such as books, on top of your laptop and keyboard. This can push the LCD screen into the keyboard, and will eventually damage it. Also, the CD-ROM insert will also be squished and, eventually, will break.

Use a properly-sized laptop case. Whatever you use to carry your laptop around in, be it a case, a bag or something you have made yourself, asus k42 keyboard make sure that it it large enough to contain the laptop. This will avoid scratching, squeezing or even potentially dropping it.

Look into getting a laptop bag. Many breaks happen because of laptops being dropped or bumped. A bag greatly reduces the risk of damage.

Use and store in a well-ventilated area. When you are using your laptop, do so in a place that has a constant air-circulation. asus x42 keyboard Lots of people ruin their laptop by using it in an enclosed area and thus making the laptop overheat.

Use an old toothbrush to clean the area around the exhaust fan screen. If that gets plugged up, air flow is diminished and overheating can occur.

Try and keep the laptop on a flat, clean surface. asus a43 keyboard This prevents damage to the laptop. This step can be hard, particularly if you are going out with your laptop, but if there is a flat surface available to put your laptop on then do so.

Don’t use your laptop on the bed. Repeated use of the laptop on the bed will cause the fans to suck up the dust and debris which lies in the bed, ultimately blocking the fan. Refrain from this by using the laptop somewhere else than the bed.

They spin, taking power, Samsung RV518 LCD Cable even when they are not actively being used. Wherever possible, try to run on virtual drives.

Clean battery contacts more often. Clean your battery’s metal contacts every couple of months with a cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol. This keeps the transfer of power from your battery more efficient.

SHUT OFF the WiFi, if you don’t need it. Usually, there is a switch, but sometimes you have to do it in the WIFI config.Battery care. Do not leave a charged battery dormant for long periods of time. Once charged, Samsung RV515 LCD Cable you should at least use the battery at least once every two to three weeks.

Hibernate is better than standby on a laptop. Although placing a laptop in standby mode saves some power and you can instantly resume where you left off, it doesn’t save anywhere as much power as the hibernate function does.Hibernating a laptop will actually save more power as it will completely shut down itself .

Defragging your hard drive regularly. The faster your hard drive does its work the less demand you are going to put on the hard samsung rv520 lcd cable drive and your battery. Make your hard drive as efficient as possible by defragging it regularly. In Windows XP, you do this by going to “My Computer” and right click on the “C:\” drive. Reducing laptop demands. Passive activities like email and word processing consume much less power than gaming or playing a DVD.

Buy an Energy Star or other efficient laptop. Laptops are getting more and more efficient in nature to the point where some manufacturers Samsung N210 Video Cable are talking about all day long batteries. Picking up a newer more efficient laptop to replace an aging one is usually a quick fix.

Keep a toshiba laptop keyboard clean http://www.laptopparttips.info/keep-a-toshiba-laptop-keyboard-clean/ Thu, 10 Jan 2013 06:59:29 +0000 http://www.laptopparttips.info/?p=270 Continue reading ]]> Do not wash the keyboard, you might be shocked or damage it.

Use toshiba keyboard protective film. A good toshiba keyboard protective film can effectively reduce the wear and tear and prevent dust and debris from falling into the keyboard slots.

Wash your hands before using the laptop. The toshiba keyboard is the most easily soiled part on a laptop. In order to avoid the keyboard of oil, wash your hands before using your laptop, so as not to dirty the keyboard.

Do not be too “violent.” Many players use the laptop to play games, so a few frequently-used buttons tend to wear out more quickly than the other keys. Pay attention to the intensity of your typing if you use the keyboard frequently.

Use canned air to remove dust and particles. If you do not have canned air available, you can also use a hair dryer to remove dust, but note that the hair dryer must be set to “cool” so that it only blows cold air.

Do not eat or drink near, or over, the toshiba keyboard. Foreign bodies can fall into the cracks in a keyboard, which will affect normal use. Water and other liquids may lead to more serious consequences.

If the Key Cap and Key Retainer Have Fallen Off the toshiba Keyboard,Purchase the missing cap or retainer if you have lost them. Unsnap the cap from another key that is in working condition but leave the retainer connected. Take a close look at the 4 connecting points on the working retainer and compare it to the area where the damaged key used to be. Place the disconnected retainer the same way that you see the working retainer. Put the missing cap on top of the retainer so the letter on it reads correctly and snap it back in place.

If the Space Bar Has Fallen Off the Keyboard for toshiba. Use a flathead screwdriver to separate the retainer from the space bar key. Link the retainer with the hooks on the keyboard to return it to its proper place. Put the space bar key on top of the retainer and snap it in place.

If You Want to Use Another Key to Replace the One That is Lost Choose a key that you rarely use such as the “Scroll Lock” or one of the “Alt” keys. Pull on the key gently to remove it from its original place. Remove the retainer but make sure that the 2 pieces on the back are still connected. Use a sharp object to lift the membrane that was just under the key before you removed it. Apply strong glue at the bottom edge of the membrane. Place the membrane so that the glue sticks to the new area where you want the key to go. Add the key retainer above the membrane. Put the key cap above the retainer and give it a gentle push to snap it in place.

If you have many keys missing you may want to consider buying and installing an entirely new Toshiba keyboard. Make sure that you buy a toshiba keyboard that matches the exact make and model of your laptop.
If a key does not snap in place, turn it upside down and inspect the locking clips. A damaged locking clip will prevent a key from snapping in place in which case you will need to use another key.
Choosing the best method to repair toshiba laptop keyboard keys depends on the style and model of your laptop. Gather information about your particular laptop to decide which method is best for you.
Get your laptop repaired by the retailer or manufacturer if it is still under warranty with coverage for toshiba keyboard damage.

Toshiba Satellite E205-S1904 keyboard most notable feature http://www.laptopparttips.info/toshiba-satellite-e205-s1904-keyboard-most-notable-feature/ Mon, 07 Jan 2013 08:41:29 +0000 http://www.laptopparttips.info/?p=264 Continue reading ]]> One of the first notebook computers to include WiDi at retail is the $899 Toshiba Satellite E205-S1904, a model that’s exclusive to Best Buy. Though having WiDi included makes the E205-S1904 intriguing enough, we’re also excited because the last Best Buy exclusive design that Toshiba made, the E105-S1802, was one of our favorite Satellite laptops. We particularly liked it for incorporating a more comfortable keyboard and touch pad than are available in most mainstream Satellite models.

One of the biggest changes to the Toshiba Satellite E205 is cosmetic: whereas the E105 series had a clean, somewhat boring gray chassis and a solid, tapered keyboard, the E205 adopts a totally new look with a dark blue plastic finish (called Fusion Finish in metallic blue), rounded edges, and a slot-loading DVD drive. The laptop feels more plasticky and slightly less rugged than the E105, but it also looks trimmer, too. The E205 looks thin, but a lot of that is a visual effect produced by the extremely tapered edges along the sides and front. Still, the Satellite E205 is thinner than many full-size laptops at only 1.2 inches. A larger-than-normal rear hinge enables the 14-inch screen to open up at an angle that “floats” a little more off the keyboard than standard lids. The lid also opens up at a very wide angle.

Toshiba’s move to a flat backlit keyboard instead of the very comfortable tapered E105 keyboard is frustrating: it’s a return to the keyboard lineup available on most Satellites, and frankly, the flat keys leave something to be desired. Though the toshiba satellite E205  keyboard seemed to respond a little better than the keyboards on other Satellites we’ve reviewed, the main part of the keyboard still flexes too much for our taste. The multitouch touch pad beneath is smaller than the stiff-clicking buttons beneath, which is awkward–but the flush matte touch pad surface worked fine for us as we used the toshiba satellite E205-S1904 keyboard. A row of dedicated media touch-keys run down the right side of the keyboard, controlling audio, basic play functions, an Eco power utility, and backlighting.

The E205’s most notable feature, one we’ve profiled in great detail, is its Intel Wireless Display capability, or WiDi. The E205 can, with the assistance of a simple Toshiba software tool, send its video display to any TV with RCA or HDMI input jacks, courtesy of the included Netgear Push 2 TV box. The WiDi connection is akin to that of a Wi-Fi bridge, but has surprisingly decent clarity and can be initiated at the push of a button.
